The largest nerve in the human body is the sciatic nerve. It extends from the nerve roots in the lumbar spinal cord, to the buttock area, and down to the lower limb. Because of its extension throughout the body it can easy become pinched. The symptoms that are suffered are caused by the pinched nerve and are diagnosed as Sciatica. Sciatica pain is often focused on one area in the lower back, but can extend through the back of the thigh and down the leg.
Many victims of Sciatica are incapable of making even the slightest moves with their leg due to the immense pain. Such an injury can even prevent simple movements that are required for driving. Diagnosing the symptoms of sciatica and tracing its cause can be fairly easy. Numbness, tingling, and weakness in the lower back and buttock are the basic symptoms, but many severe cases can only grow worse until the proper treatment is sought.
No matter where the pressure is on the sciatic nerve, an inversion table can relieve the pressure. With over 20% of your total body weight still putting pressure on your back while lying down, the only way to truly achieve the level of relief that will bring you back to mobility is through complete inversion. Performing inversion exercises is highly recommended by both doctors and patients that have previously suffered from Sciatica.
Sciatica symptoms are found predominantly in men, ages 30-50 years old. In most cases there is no one event or activity that causes pressure on the sciatic nerve, but instead it is an accumulation that occurs over time. Daily use of an inversion table or hang up gravity boots can prevent this from ever happening, through effortless inversion exercises.
